Intro to TV Drama Blog Tasks

O n Google Drive here  Factsheet   #164   on   Television Serial Drama .  Read the whole of Factsheet and answer the following questions to show your comprehensive knowledge of the television drama genre: 1) What is serial television drama? Write your own definition. A TV  split into a series of episodes  where the plot unfolds after each episode as opposed to one-off dramas, this plot will be finished by the end of the series. 2) List five of the TV dramas discussed in the history of the genre on page 1 of the factsheet. How has the genre evolved over time? -The Avengers -Danger Man -The Sweeney -Starsky and Hutch -Minder Until the early 1980's, most US television drama series followed a set narrative structure, comprising of a story of the week delivering narrative resolution at the end of the episode. Crucially the following episode starts afresh with no reference to the previous story.  3) List the sub-genres of TV drama featured in the factsheet. Come up with your own example

1. WWW:  Good, concise answers, focused on the questions EBI: Some points need developing, especially in Q3 where you could have made more references to Hesmondhalgh. 2. Q1 - 3/3 marks.     Q2 - 5/6 marks.     Q3 - 4/9 marks. 3. For Question 2, I ended up getting 5 marks and missed out on a 6th due to the        fact that I didn't mention BBTL's story with film festivals (e.g. Sundance Film            Festival) and how they gave BBTL some exposure before release with fan                reviews, critic scores and whatnot. 4.  - New technology is opening new ways to distribute films and Blinded By The             Light now has an  extended slot on Amazon Prime which will bring in some of           the money it has lost. Film Regulation and The BBFC

1) Research the   BBFC  in more detail: what is the institution responsible for? How is it funded? What link does it have to government? This   history of the BBFC page   may help.   The  British Board of Film Classification (BBFC)  is independent, non-governmental and not-for-profit, and has had the responsibility of classifying films since 1912, video tapes and discs since 1985, and more recently, online content.  It is funded through charged fees. The  BBFC  is here to help everyone in the UK choose age-appropriate films, videos and websites, wherever and however they watch or use them. 2) Read this BBFC guide to how films are rated.
