Cinematography blog posts

1) Write an analysis of the cinematography in the opening sequence. Highlight your use of media language and try to cover camera shots, angles and movement using the terminology we have learned in lessons.

The scene begins with a close up of a music box with "Wade" on it, the camera angle then changes to a birds eye view shot of Deadpool colouring in a sketch and zooms into him even more. Then the scene shows a wide shot of the city and shows a close up of what he is colouring in, followed up by a close up of Deadpool's face, which then transitions into an over the shoulder shot that zooms in on what he is looking at.

2) How does the camerawork give the audience clues about the setting, narrative and character?

The wide shot of the city allows us to see he is sitting on top of different highways and is quite high up. The close up of the character allows us to view what he looks like and his mask, the fact the camera focuses on the car we can tell that possibly the character in red is on the look out and has spotted an enemy so we can assume a chase is bound to happen.

3) Analyse the camera shot/angle in the image and what it communicates to the audience. Remember to highlight the media terminology you use.

Here we see a high angle shot of a man close-up however behind his shoulder we see a man lying on the ground. The surprised look on the man up close face tells us that he probably has witnessed something that completely surprised him. We can assume this scene is set on stairs as we see the man lying at the bottom of the stairs whereas the other man is more higher up and we can tell this is set in a family home as we see pictures of different family members on the wall.
